Homosexual Activities in The OT: Prohibitions for Males Only?

What is prohibited in chapters Lev 18 and 20?

  • “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination” (Lev. 18:22).
  • “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them” (Lev. 20:13).

Does the OT permit same-sex exchanges as long as they are not an incestuous homosexual activity? Do the Ten-commandments cover prohibition homosexual activities? If not, why not? If so, is there some permission of homosexual activity with regulations? In the two passages cited above, do the prohibition applies only to the Israelites or to all Christians? Does the NT agree with Lev 18 and 20 in explicitly condemning incest and male homosexual activity? Do intent ever plays a role? These and other questions demand a close reading and application for all Bible believing Christians today. CM
