The Deity of Christ is a problem for a few sects and cults. But Evangelicalism (Protestantism repackaged) is divided mainly over world views because of its eschatology.

How can Paul not say Jesus is God?
“as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13 (NET)
Also if you consider Granville Sharp's rule, this…

This might be of interest. Paul in Titus also calls Jesus God.
“as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13 (NET)

Jude 5 in Nestle Aland 27 used Kurios for Lord with the critical apparatus note translating it Jesus. So NA 28 just went ahead and said Jesus. This is a solid translation since kurios is also the exact word for YHWH in the LXX.<…

Many times the Prophets didn't understand their own prophecies.
“Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that sh…

This is another clear passage of Scripture about the Deity of Christ we should submit our understanding of the less clear passages to.
“Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the l…

Following is a passage around which obscure passages must yield to.
“but of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and a righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessn…

So be it. I was hoping to share how important the Deity of Christ is in relation to the doctrine of Imputation. There is a huge difference between Divine righteousness and human righteousness. It takes divine righteousness to merit eternal life b…

We are on the 5th page of this discussion. I cannot wade through everything and hope I am selecting what you have in mind. Simply ask your most important question and I will do my best to provide a biblical solution.

You need to be specific. We have hundreds of words we already exchanged. Ask your most important question and I'll do my best to provide an answer from scripture.

Please restate your question(s) so I know exactly how to answer. Perhaps beginning with your most important question.

Jesus sacrificed his body & blood in death to atone for sins. But spiritually He is God who cannot die. Paul also says we are saved by his life. “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, …

We cannot have the level of righteousness that merits eternal life apart from "imputation". And if Jesus is not God, we have only Adam's finate righteousness instead.

How can Jesus' Deity not be the topic of the thread "Is Jesus Deity"? All I'm saying is if he is not God, then we cannot merit eternal life based on his imputed righteousness.
-
Back on topic: If Jesus was not God, we would not have divine righteousness imputed to us. Divine righteousness merits eternal life. Human righteousness in finite. It merits only finite (non eternal) life.

This is a common understanding of the text. In theology called the doctrine of Imputation. Apart from understanding this, one is helplessly bogged down trusting in their own righteousness as their grounds of acceptance with God, instea…

If you have only your own righteousness instead of Christ's imputed righteousness, you are lost and do not understand grace.

Thanks for all the work you put into this. All I was saying was that Jesus was sinless (perfect) and his body did not begin to rot while in the tomb according to scripture.
“Therefore he also says in another psalm, ‘You will no…

I'm not a Calvinist but share some similarities. But if you had anything to do with your salvation then salvation is not of grace. And if Jesus is not God, you do not have eternal life, you have only the life Adam had before he sinned. Because i…

You are missing the entire point of sin and grace. “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made (Greek Constituted/considered) sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made (Greek Constituted/considered) righteous.” (Romans 5:19)

Good illustration. But We received two benefits from Christ. The payment for our sins. And the imputation of his righteousness. Just as God imputed Adam's sin to us (See Romans 5), God imputed Jesus' righteousness to us. So God sees us…

Christians are said to have Christ's righteousness and not their own. “For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end…

It is important because finate human righteousness cannot merit the rewards of infinite righteousness. Had Jesus not been God, we could not be entitled to the things of God, including eternal life.

I think the greatest division in the Church today is because of differing eschatological beliefs. For instance, I'm Amillennial and believe the faithful will be few and far between just before the Lord returns. So things look normal to me. Others…

I probably should have explained "imputation" according to Paul in Romans 5. In this case God imputed Adam's sin to his children. God then imputed the sins of Christ's children to Him. And then imputed Christ's righteousness to them, his children…

I think scripture makes the most sense if we see people having a spirit. The part of us that says "I" and "Me". And a soul (mind or flesh) that receives education. And the body.
The spirit being cut off from God and enslaved to…

If Jesus was God, we have the imputed righteousness of God that merits eternal life. If Jesus was only a good man, we have man's righteousness that only merits the life Adam had before he sinned.

Thanks for your interest in this. I think the number is symbolic not to be worn literally. Anymore than the 144,000 having their father's name written in their foreheads wear that symbol literally in Revelation 13:18–14:1.
