When people die, their spirit lives on. The lost go to hell and the saved enter Heaven. Jesus died and went to Heaven but just like everyone else who dies, his body went to the grave. Only it did not begin to decay.

  • I appreciate Hoffman's closing statement. "Unfortunately, translations that change Zechariah to match John hide the ingenuity of the text, and make it all but impossible for English readers to understand how the NT quotes the OT."

    As a ru…

It was necessary for Jesus to die in the process of shedding his blood for the sins of his people. Why? Because he came to fulfill the Law in their behalf. And this he did.

He gave his entire mind, soul and body and all of his …

You are demanding more from Jesus than God did. It is the blood that atones for sin. Romans 5:9

    Thanks...interesting.

Only Jesus' body died. God cannot die. His blood atoned for believer's sins completely.

Jesus said ““The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it.” (Luke 16:16)

But: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say…

  • Scripture speaks of the kingdom of God in the OT. Also in the NT. We enter it through the New Birth. And those not born again cannot see it.

  • (Quote)

The Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God are interchangeable terms. And both exist in Heaven and Earth. To believe in Christ is to enter both.

  • (Quote)

When Christians die their spirit goes to heaven. Paradise is a synonym for heaven.

  • (Quote)

If you consider Jesus is God with a human body, only the body died. Jesus told the thief he would be with him in paradise that day while his body remained in the grave 3 days and nights.

I agree. I wish I had a color coded Bible showing hyperbole and apocalyptic at a glance. Or even passages commonly taken by our preferred group as symbolism and metaphor.

Biblical Studies seems to be a broader heading than your definitions allow for. They are no doubt included in it but the heading should not be limited to such a narrow definition.

  • (Quote)

The way I understand it is Jesus is God as far as his inner person. And he took on a human body and nature. Subject to death but without sin.

Jesus the divine person being God did not die, only his human body and related mental…

Christendom does not affect all nations positively?

The 1000 years are not literal. 1000 is a symbol for totality and completion elsewhere in scripture.

If Jesus says the truth will set you free, how can Satan the fathe…

  • Leaving Bible Questions in tact and adding "Bible Related" might be broad enough to cover all.

Asking Bible Questions is a good way to solicit participation. It is non confrontational and can alleviate the feeling of being force fed a per…

Thanks for the reply. Interesting... I see all churches subject to the Apostles as we now are through their writings. But it wasn't till much later with the development of the monarchial bishops that we see much of what we see today.
