What was the first Bible? Can you trace its history through the years to the English Bible of today? What Bible did Jesus refer to in teaching? In short, how did the "common people" -- laity or non-clergy of the masses receive the Bible? I believe this knowledge would give us a greater appreciation of what we have and encourage us to study it more diligently. CM

Guns were made to kill! The second Amendment is as mean as I stated it in another post recently, "The NRA Is At It Again: Guns, Guns, Guns in Va". [https://www.christiandiscourse.net/discussion/763/the-nra-is-at-it-again-guns-guns-guns-in-va#latest]. A fellow poster took issue when I cited historical facts for the genesis of The second Amendment:

"'The framers wanted citizens to have weapons of war'" to protect their slave-importing/holding, treaty breaking, Indian-killing, to establish colonialism...History know this is the unadulterated truth! This is the "whole purpose of the 2nd" Amendment.

Once again, here it is in questions and answers format. The voice of history is so loud on the subject matter, a deaf man can hear. I further stated:

"... an added reason why guns ("Second Amendment") made it into law-- fear of revenge, nasty deeds, and greed holding on to ill-gotten gains.

You say, "where is the beef" (Proof)? What was the original intent of the Second Amendment?

"The amendment was ratified by the States and authenticated by Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson as: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".

Why did the Founding Fathers create the Second Amendment?

The Second Amendment was created so that the states could form militias or armies to destroy insurrections or slave rebellions because the federal government had no standing military for a long time. The Founding Fathers were frightened by a standing army, because they feared coups.

What is the exact wording of the Second Amendment?

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Such language has created considerable debate regarding the Amendment's intended scope.

The Second Amendment was birth "to destroy insurrections or slave rebellions"! The then, U. S. Government was in stalk violation of God's will and commands. She held men slaves when God made them free. Who is the "animal" and the "savage"? The Second Amendment is a memorial of greed, EVIL, hate, slavery, oppression, FEAR, and religious hypocrisy.

America, your soul is black within, and your hands are bloody! From a purely historical point of view, what race of people supported the slave-trade industry, made laws to maintain control, and solid the "land of freedom" with the blood of Native Americans and African slaves? The number killed far exceeded the six million Jews killed during the Holocaust. The cry of justice can still be heard today.

Please don't get mad with me. Get rid of the Second Amendment and don't support the NRA. America, break with the sins of the past. God called you into existence to be a blessing to all, not just the land and gun owners. CM

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

SOURCE:

History of the second amendment

Statue of liberty poem

There is alleged "Report of Pontius Pilate to Tiberius" found. It is said to be that of Pilate, narrating the proceedings of the trial and speaking of Jesus in the highest terms of praise. It is built upon Eusebius' statement that:

"The wonderful resurrection and ascension into heaven of our Saviour was now already generally famous, and in accordance with an ancient custom that those who were ruling over the nations should report to him who held the imperial office any new movement among them, in order that no event might escape his notice, Pilate communicated to the emperor Tiberius the story of the resurrection from the dead of Our Saviour Jesus as already famous among all throughout Palestine, together with the information he had gained of His other wonders and how He was believed by many to be a God, in that after death He had risen from the dead."—The Loeb Classical Library, Eusebius I, p. III, E. H. II. 2.

Is there any truth to it? The "Report of Pontius Pilate", is it Good News or Fake News? CM

The Bible is a Divine-Human product. It reveals God and the plan of salvation. It speaks of man's origin and the destruction of Satan and evil. This book is unique in many ways:

More than just any other book, even any other 'religious' book, the Bible is singularly unique.

It is neither a single book, nor is it written by one person, as are most 'religious' texts.

It is a collection of 66 books that were written by 40 or more different writers in three different languages, on three different continents.

These books were written over a period of about 1600 years.

The writers represent society at large.

They were not just scholars and preachers, but they also ranged from common folk such as shepherds, doctors, government officials, fishermen, and tax collectors, to Kings.

There are many styles of journalistic method involved, including history, poetry, government records, dialogue, parables, sermons, prophecy, letters and religious instruction.

The Bible has been translated into over 1200 different languages or dialects.

Despite this huge diversity of history, there is one central theme of the whole collection of writings -- God loves us and has a plan for our lives.

In sum, the Bible is unique in its claims:

Unparalleled in documentation.

Clear and unequivocal in its message from God.

Capable of changing lives.

Miraculously transmitted through the ages.

One can't help, but to ask the following questions:

How long has the Bible been under attack?

Who are the people or institutions that would do such?

What are rationales for being against such life-changing, unique book?

Is the Bible still under attack today?

Who are the Bible enemies of the past?

It is a famous historical photo that can be found on Wikipedia, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum website, Time Magazine, the National Library of Israel etc.

In a recent video David Wood stated that he had been banned on Facebook for sharing this photo (the interesting part starts at position 2:18).

I tried it. I shared the photo on Facebook. A few hours later, I received a warning, and the post was removed. (No ban though. The fact that I have a FB business account with an active campaign on it might have saved me.)

Frankly, FB's attempt to censor historical truth is appaling. Does truth hurt so much that they don't want their users to make the connection between Nazism and Islamism...? Shame on Facebook!!!
