Bible Believing Posters,

The Old Testament gives many stories of a being called the "Angel of the Lord" or sometimes simply the "Angel," but acts and speaks like God and is identified as God.

These manifestations provide a profound riddle because the "Angel of the Lord" is both referred to as God and also distinguished from God who resides in heaven. Can we resolve this apparent contradiction?

There are a number of biblical passages that contain the “Angel of the Lord”:

Gen 16:7-14; 21:17; 22:11-18; 31:3-13; 48:15-16

Exod 3:2-7; 14:19; 23:20-23

Num 22:22-35

Judg 2:1-5; 6:11-24; 13:3-23

1 Kgs 19:5-7

2 Kgs 1:3- 4

1 Chr 21:13-30

Zech 3:1-2

Could all these refer to the pre-incarnate Christ?

@Wolfgang asked the question in the thread Witches and Witchcraft @C Mc Apr 12, 2021. I think it needed its own space and a full hearing:

"... The translation "angel" of a word which simply means "messenger" misleading and giving a false idea? Are there even "FALLEN angels" (i.e. can angels "fall [sin, rebel]" ? If so, who is to say that those assumed supposedly "good angels" now won't at some time also "fall" ?? A big re-think on "angels" seems necessary ..."

Yes, angels are real. According to Genesis 18, three men visited Abraham (18:1–2), and he showed them his generous hospitality. Later in the story, two of them departed to Sodom (18:16, 22), and they are identified as angels or messengers (19:1, 15) but also as men (19:5, 10, 12).

The Lord who visited Abraham together with two other angels (Gen 18:1–2, 10, 13, 16–23, 33; 19:1, 18–19) and spoke with Abraham in chap.18.

As for questioning the veracity of "fallen angels", it's all here, in your Bible. There is sufficient evidence of passages referring to the chief fallen angel known as Satan"

Isa 14:12–15

Ezek 28:12–19

Satan's (Lucifer) activities of pride and pretension to be like God are made plain. The passages show a link to Rev 12:7–9. All of the aforementioned passages convey “an event that occurred in the heavenly realm” involving a divine being or member of the heavenly council (Ps 82; Ezek 28:12–19). These verses show “a creature subjected to mortality.”

Wolfgang, Could be perhaps, "A big re-think" on doubting "angels" seems necessary ..."? CM

There are many questions on the topic of angels. They are from adults, children, and scholars. Can you answer some or all of the questions below for better understanding of angels in the Bible?
1. What are angels? How does one define them?
3. Are they in heaven and on earth?
4. Can they be seen with the naked eyes or the common man?
5. Does the Bible say how many Angels there are?
6. What is the OT/NT view of angels?
7. Does it take faith to believe in Angels?
8. Is Jesus an angel?
9. Did sin begin with an angel or with a man?
10. How old are angels?
11. What are "ministering angels"?
12. Do angels have or plays a role in man's redemption?
13. Do angels have free will?
14. Are angels tied to genes or environment?
15. Are angels "gods"?
16. Are there angelic trolls?
17. Is there redemption for the "fallen angels"? If not, why not?

I don't expect one person to answer all the questions, but the ones you attempt, consider substantive answers. This may include quality articles and/or books. Thanks. CM
