The New Testament does not have any explicit statement on the Trinity—apart from 1 John 5:7, which has been rejected as a medieval addition to the text—but the Trinitarian evidence is overwhelming.

Furthermore, there are two factors we must all come to grips:

• First, the term, "Trinity" is NOT found in Scripture.
• Second, the Trinity is a hard concept to understand to our modern, analytical, and mathematical minds. How can three equal one or one equal three?

If we are willing to accept the two above points, please, CD Posters/readers and anti-trinitarian, we do find in Scripture many references to three persons in God. For many people, this truth adds to the confusion in people’s minds. Although the Old Testament emphasizes

• The exclusive unity of God (Deut 6:4; 5:7–11).
• Also its alluion to the plurality of God (Gen 1:2, 26; 11:7; 18:1–33; Exod 23:23).

Of all allusions to this plurality of God in the Old Testament, (e.g. Isa 42:1 and 48:16), they come very close to a Trinitarian formulation. Don't you agree with the points stated above?

Now, let's settle down and mine the Scriptures on an important subject and stop acting like screaming cats on a "hot tin roof". End this biblical Guerrilla warfare, while taking sideswipes at one another's name and character. Jesus is clearly described as divine in the gospel of John (John 1:1–3; 20:28). Jesus, himself, proclaims his own divinity (John 8:58).

In the New Testament we also find clear references to the three persons of the Godhead.

• All three are mentioned at the baptism of Jesus (Matt 3:16–17).
• During the Lord’s Supper Jesus comforts his disciples with the thought that he and the Father would send the Holy Spirit to guide them after his departure (John 14:16–17).
• All three persons are part of the baptismal formula found in Jesus’ great commission to his disciples (Matt 28:19)
  • Paul readily refers to all three persons in many of his epistles (Rom 8:9–11; 2 Cor 13:14; 2 Tim 1:3–14; Eph 1:13–14; 3:14–19).
  • Peter acknowledges the work of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the salvation of people (1 Pet 1:2).
  • John is a witness of the Spirit’s testimony regarding Jesus, the Son of God (1 John 5:5–9).
  • The book of Revelation -- presents three persons involved in the final events of this world (Rev 1:4–5; 22:16–18).

Despite these biblical evidences to the triune God, it becomes somewhat ambivalent for some people because the Holy Spirit is often referred to with metaphors of objects:

• A dove (Matt 3:16)
• The wind (John 3:8)
• Fire (Isa 6:6, 7)
• Water (John 7:37–39)
• Oil (Matt 25:1–4).

Moreover, adding to this ambivalence are some New Testament statements that appear to refer to Jesus as having had a beginning when he is referred to as “begotten” (monogenes) or “firstborn of all creation” (prototokos) (John 3:16; Col 1:15).

The doctrine of the Trinity brings up some issues:

Historically, the doctrine of the Trinity is closely connected with the Christological disputes the early church struggled with. The early church through a series of councils:

• Confirmed the eternal divinity of Jesus.
• Opened the way for a clarification of the relationship between God the Father and Jesus.

In addition, the the early church needed to clarify the relationship between Father, Son and Holy Spirit and involved acceptance of Jesus as Savior and Lord. This meant that the Trinity found its way into the creeds of the church. The Niceo-Constantinopolitan creed confesses in part that:

Any student of history knows that the later western versions of the Nicene Creed added the clause: “who proceeds from the Father .” The addition of this clause was one of the issues that led to the great schism between east and west in 1054.

Until next time, let's search the Scriptures with an opened mind and little more humility. Let's allow the spotlight of truth to shine and reveal the organic roots, stems, growth and development of the one God self-revealed in Scripture as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Out of these eight passages, three are found in John. Of these three, everyone acknowledges John 20:28 to be an unequivocal "deity-passage." Even a skeptic, Taylor, couldn't help but call the texts above "one clear ascription of Deity to Christ." What an acknowledgment this man gives in comparison to many professed Christian today.

Many tried to deny Jesus Christ was God incarnate. Their failure is equivalent to a man denying he was born. He may not know his birthday, but he can't deny his existence (see Hicks, Green; especially, Green's essay, "Jesus in the New Testament").

Read your Bible, the sources (below) to stimulate your thoughts, and add to the conversation in declaring the absolute Deity of Jesus: "The Logos was God." It's a treasure trove of biblical truth. CM

1. Polytheism. They have multiple gods which they call Jehovah (A Catholic made-up name) and Michael the archangel also called Jesus- a sort of created super-power demi-god.

The New International Version begins the Gospel of John with a note saying that the earliest and most reliable manuscripts do not include John 7:53–8:11. Is it a true story? Does it appear in any Greek New Testament manuscripts? Do any of the Church Fathers write about the missing passage or story? Why would the NEB leave out a story about adultery? CM

Would you like to learn more about the Bible or about Jehovah’s Witnesses?

As promised in another thread, I would give a closer look into a translation that one of the new posters frequently directs users of these forums. Many times, @BroRando supplied Bible texts lead one to Jehovah's Witnesses Bible entitled, "The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures." It was written and released in 1950 by members of the Society. Many in the religious and scholarly community deemed it to be a biased translation. It is believed the translators have added and altered many Bible texts to agree with the denominational teachings. Can it be verified or denied?

I stand to be corrected that in 1969, "The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures" came on the scene. It used the Greek text revised by Westcott and Hort and has the New World translation in its margin. This reveals many errors and contradictions, including words added and other mistranslations. The Greek text used is also questionable.

What's the quality of this "Bible"? Is it accurate to the Greek and Hebrew texts that other Bibles and Translations are based? What value does it bring to the religious world or the study of theology? Who were the men that compiled the NWT? Were they efficient proficient in the languages of Greek and Hebrew?

Eusebius, a follower of Origen, rejected the deity of Christ and claimed that Christ was a created being. A cursory reading of John 1:1 in the NWT appeared to have continued the "Arian heresy." Is it just the NWT that maintains the Arian heresy that says Jesus is not God and that God is a pantheistic God, a God in everything?

Can we make a sober comparison of the NWT and other translations? After doing such, would you recommend its usage for mature biblical studies? CM

PS. May I encourage all to limit your comments to the NWT Text and its development to keep us focused?

1. How do you prove from the Bible that 1935 was the year for the selection to heaven stopped due to being filled? What is the difference between a Catholic appealing to "what the organization tells him " about December 25 being the date of Jesus' birthday and a JW appealing to "what the organization tells him" about 1935? Is it not hypocritical when you scold the "poor deluded Catholic" that his faith cannot find a Bible passage to support it when the same goes for you and 1935?

2. In the NWT, every time the Greek word "proskuneo" is used about God, it is translated as "worship" (Rev 5:14, 7:11, 11:16, 19:4, John 4:20, etc.). Every time "proskuneo" is used about Jesus, it is translated as "obeisance" (Matt 14:33, 28:9, 28:17, Lk 24:52, Heb 1:6, etc.), even though it is the same word in Greek (see Greek-English Interlinear). Especially compare the Greek word "prosekunhsan" used about God in Rev. 5:14, 7:11, 11:16, and 19:4 and used with reference to Christ in Matt. 14:33, 28:9, and 28:17. What is the reason for this inconsistency? If the NWT was consistent in translating "proskuneo" as "worship," how would the verses above referring to Christ read? 

3. The NWT translates the Greek word "kyrios" as "Jehovah" more than 25 times in the New Testament (Matt. 3:3, Lk 2:9, John 1:23, Acts 21:14, Rom. 12:19, Col 1:10, 1 Thess. 5:2, 1 Pet 1:25, Rev 4:8, etc.). Why is the word "Jehovah" translated when it does not appear in the Greek text? Why is the NWT not consistent in translating kyrios (kurion) as "Jehovah" in Rom. 10:9, 1 Cor. 12:3, Phil. 2:11, 2 Thess. 2:1, and Rev. 22:21 (see Greek-English Interlinear)? 

4. The NWT translates the Greek words "ego eimi" as "I am" every time it appears (John 6:34, 6:41, 8:24, 13:19, 15:5, etc.), except in John 8:58 where it is translated as "I have been." What is the reason for the inconsistency in this translation? If "ego eimi" was translated in John 8:58, the same way it is translated in every other verse in which it appears, how would John 8:58 read? 

5. The NWT translates John 1:1 as "... and the Word was WITH God, and the Word was a god". How can the Word (Jesus) be "a god" if God says in Deut. 32:39, "See now that I-I am he, and there are NO gods together WITH me ..."? 

6. Jesus uses the phrase "Truly I say to you, ..." over 50 times in the Bible. In the NWT, the comma is placed after the word "you" every time except in Lk 23:43, where the comma is placed after the word "today." Why is the comma placed after "today" instead of after "you" in this verse? If the translation of this phrase in Lk 23:43 was consistent with the translation of this phrase in all the other verses in which it appears (see concordance), and the comma was placed after the word "you", how would it read? 

7. The NWT translates the Greek word "esti" as "is" in almost every instance in the New Testament (Matt 26:18, 38, Mk 14:44, Lk 22:38, etc.). See Greek-English Interlinear. Why does the NWT translate this Greek word as "means" in Mt 26:26-28, Mk 14:22-24, and Lk 22:19? Why the inconsistency in the translation of the word "esti"? What would these verses say if the NWT was consistent and translated the Greek word "esti" as "is" in these verses? 

8. In Phil. 2:9, the NWT inserts the word "other," even though it doesn't appear in the original Greek (see Greek-English Interlinear). What is the reason for inserting this word? Is the word "Jehovah" a name? See Ex 6:3, Ps 83:18, and Isa. 42:8. How would the verse read if the word "other" had not been inserted? What does scripture say about adding words to the Bible? See Prov. 30:5-6. 

9. In Col 1:15-17, the NWT inserts the word "other" 4 times even though it is not in the original Greek (see Greek-English interlinear). Why is the word "other" inserted? How would these verses read if the word "other" had not been inserted? 

10. In 2 Pet 1:1, the NWT inserts the word "the." Why is it inserted? How would the verse read if the word "the" was not inserted? What does scripture say about adding words to the Bible? (See Prov 30:5-6). 

11. In Lk 4:12, the NWT translates "kyrios" (Greek-lord) as "Jehovah," which makes the verse read "... 'You shall not put Jehovah your God to the test.'" See Greek-English Interlinear. Why is kyrios translated as "Jehovah" in this verse? Was the devil, in Lk 4:9-11, putting Jehovah to the test or JESUS to the test? 

Most of the questions are centered or from the New World Translation Bible. I and others want to know. Please take them seriously. I remain.

God's existence, love, ability, power, and manifestations are not limited to man's approval or comprehension. Man is the created and not the Creator. Man is lower than the angels. Let us not lose sight of our place and abilities. God can become a man, but man can NEVER become God. The only Bible writer to use the word “antichrist” is the apostle John. Note these words in the first letter bearing his name:

They went out from us, but they were not of our sort . . . Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? Therefore, the Anti-Christ would come up with a Universal teaching that opposes Jesus as the Christ, the son of the living God. (Mathhew 16:16)

Radical Mistranslations in the New World Translation

Mistranslations of the New World Translation

I Corinthians 6:19-20

What! Do YOU not know that the body of YOU people is [the] temple of the holy spirit within YOU, which YOU have from God? Also, YOU do not belong to yourselves, for YOU were bought with a price. By all means, glorify God in the body of YOU people.

Philippians 2:6

Who, although he was existing in God’s form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God.

Because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. II Peter 3:10

Yet Jehovah’s day will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a hissing noise, but the elements being intensely hot will be dissolved, and earth and the works in it will be discovered.

Yet, at the same time, they deny Jesus' Divinity. Claimed Jesus was born (just a man) or, at best, an angel who receives worship but shouldn't. Believe this, Jesus was has returned, and there is no resurrection. They questioned his birth, his name, self-identification, His oneness: Co-equal, co-eternal, with the Father and the Holy Spirit (God). They seem to exalt human reason above faith and revelation. Above all, this Jesus, they claimed to love, call on, pray to and teach others, is "a god" according to John 1:1 (NWT), and a few obscured Bible Translations (done by individuals, lacked reliable gk/Heb texts, or had access to the latest biblical finds).

CD Posters, can they love Christ, accept him, and deny him simultaneously? I am asking the remaining Anti-Trinitarian Trio ( @BroRando,  @Bill_Coley, and  @theMadJW ) in a simple straight forward way to reconcile this apparent contradiction. I prefer each one to respond individually, but I will accept a joint response.

Until then, I would like to name above: Are you a practitioner of self-deception and knowingly peddling Fool-ology? Correct me if I am wrong if I misrepresented your position. JW's do not accept Jesus as their savior:

The watchtower says Jesus is mediator for just the 144,000 anointed.

"So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the "mediator" only for anointed Christians." Watchtower 1979 Apr 1 p.31

"Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members." The Bible states that Jesus is our mediator, and his ransom is for all.

"… one mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all." 1 Timothy 2:5,6

This is enough to prime the pump.

The trinity teaches God is made up of three seperate persons. Yet, trintarians themselves are in conflict with this doctrine. They oftrn dismiss their own teaching of three seperate persons by claiming only one or two of the three seperate pesons is God.

These seprate persons have No Names thus many trinitarians teach that God has No Name. Doesn't Everyone have a Name?

After Jesus Christ summoned his 12 disciples and giving them authority to cure every sort of disease and every sort of infirmity, he revealed to them, "Do not think I came to bring peace to the earth; I came to bring, not peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34)

As distressing as pestilences are, they are part of the Composite Sign of Jesus Christ Presence in Kingdom Glory. (Luke 21:10-11) So the pummeling of pestilences we SEE today, affect everyone living on the earth "Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him. Yes, Amen." (Rev 1:7)

Pestilences were often used in the past to execute divine judgment. However, as the Last Days conclude to their end, the Pestilences and Plagues will no longer be directed against all the tribes of the earth. Soon, the pestilences will only affect those who refuse to know Jehovah God and are disobedient to the good news of Jesus Christ. "This takes into account that it is righteous on God’s part to repay tribulation to those who make tribulation for you." (2 Thessalonians 1:6)

This is Really Good News for the obedient and the faithful in rejoicing, for Jesus adds the words: “But as these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift your heads up, because your deliverance is getting near.” (Luke 21:28)

As new pestilence and plagues become a common place in this last hour of this system of things, Jehovah Witnesses look forward to the end of Satan's System of things. These viruses are severely contagious which affect how we conduct our Bible Studies, the preaching work, and even Baptizing New Christian Believers.   Disfellowshipping or Shunning

  Punishment for disobedience of Watchtower rules and regulations resulting in excommunication. Baptized members who are disfellowshipped are no longer allowed to talk with current members—including in most cases even family members.

  The elite group of 144,000 who will live in heaven and reign with Christ. This group is believed to be the Spiritual Israel as the prophecies of the Old and New Testaments are being fulfilled through them.

  Memorial Meal

  One large, annual meeting scheduled at Passover time (Nisan 14 of the Jewish calendar), which is the only time the Lord’s Supper is observed. Only the remnant of the 144,000 “anointed” can partake of the bread and wine—currently fewer than 9,000.

  The Society

  The informal name Jehovah’s Witnesses use for the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (WTBS), which is directed by the “Governing Body.”

By sayiny Hell is eternal is to deny the POWER and AUTHORITY of Jesus Christ. This just one of many falsehoods that trinitirans teach against the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Many trinitarians teach a false gospel that Jesus and the evil really never died and went to heaven, but didn't Jesus die and then resurrected three days later? They often twist Luke 23:43 as proof.

“But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:” 1 Corinthians 15:13 KJV

A good numbr of trinitarians believe that the trinity is inspired of God. Ask, what scripture is the trinity in. Most will throw up several scriptures. Usually something... well anything to do with (3). You can easily compare their trinity doctrine to scripture. If the person refuses to show his trinity doctrine, then you are dealing with someone who is decptive and only seeking to stumble you. So please be careful.

Jesus Christ stated that in the time of the end, "The Son of man will send his angels, and they will collect out from his Kingdom all things that cause stumbling and people who practice lawlessness, and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace. There is where their weeping and the gnashing of their teeth will be." (Matthew 13:41-42)

So time is of the essence... it will take some work since most tend to be brainwashed in seeing things that are not really in the Bible. The trinity replaces Jesus Christ for salvation, so don't be surprised when they reject the blood and body of Christ. Simply find some good info on exposing the pagan doctrine.

• (1) The text refers to both God the Father (τοῦ μεγάλου θεοῦ) and to Jesus (σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ), and the glory that will appear at the Parousia belongs to both of them (cf. KJV)
• (2) The whole phrase is referring to Jesus Christ, called “our great God and Savior", whose glory will be seen at His Second Coming.
• (3) Jesus Christ is described as “the glory of our great God and Savior.”

I hope my anti-christ friends wouldn't dismiss all these biblical truths with one big denial of who Jesus is. I hope they would provide an explanation (justifiable) for each, if they feel burdened to reject them. Does this call for a debate or is it a reasonable expectation, in a general forum exchange?

Also, what would be nice, is to know which of the one-hundred truths about Jesus, they agree. Since both men purport to be Christians, it should be interesting. However, some posters and readers make think otherwise. CM
