New Look

Wow that is odd. Have you tried clearing your cache?

This is very odd. I first thought you somehow enabled the mobile mode, but that's not it. There's part of the screen simply missing, not only the "new discussion" button.
Clearing the cache would be my best idea as well.
And in the mean time, until this is fixed, here's the direct link to start a new discussion:

Okay, I'm able to replicate it. Clearly another bug in the software.
If the screen width is somewhere in the middle between mobile and desktop size, the side navigation disappears.
I'll report that to the support forum too. My last post there about quoting caused some discussion, and now they want to fix it (at least partially). So this bug report will hopefully have an impact too.
If you're on a tablet (which might just have the screen width to fall into the margin where the bug occurs), try going into landscape (horizontal) mode.

Until there's a fix in the forum design, CM, try pasting the following link in your browser; it's the link that shows up in the address bar after I click the "New Discussion" button: (copy the link without the dash at the front; I had to use it to keep the forum software from showing the new page to which it links!)

Thanks, brethren, I am able to post "New Discussion". CM

Jan,
Thanks for all you do for CD.
Question: Is it too late to add an item to the Categories List; namely, the Review of Books and Movies from a Christian perspective? Those that will be enlightening and ennobles one's life. The review can be self-written, site directed (urls), or from guest contributors. I know working out the current bug will take priority at this time. Thanks for your consideration. CM

Jan,
what is the difficulty to change the font color from the super light grey to at least a dark grey, better yet a regular black, so that one can actually read the texts and quoted text in posts?
I am still having great difficulty to read posts ...

Ditto!
Jan,
I know we can't have everything and it right away. However, please, prioritize the comments that aids the continuous flow of postings. Do as much as you can, as fast as you can, for as many as you can, etc. Thanks. CM
PS. Much prayers for you and the family. CM

Would that not fall broadly under Pop Culture? I'd consider both movies and books as part of pop culture.

The bug is already solved by the good people over at Vanilla. Once they provide a patch package, we'll also benefit from it.

The colour is not configurable. I'd have to go deep into the source code, and find the place where it is defined, change it there, and do the same every time after installing a patch package.
Let's find out the general issue, to see if there's another option to fix it.
For me, the posts are all in very dark gray, like the following:
Is that different from what you see?
These are the pre-defined styles:
"Cerulean" and "Coral" have similar dark gray colors for the posts.
"Classic" uses black for the posts, but medium gray for everything else.
"Dark" is white on black, and "Dusk" is white on dark blue. Both these option cause eye pain.

Hi Jan,
here's a screen shot from my laptop
not sure if this is very different ....In the forum posts, the quoted parts of text are even lighter
Here's a facebook page with text
Can you see a difference in readability of text?
-
I'll switch to the "classic" style. Let me know what you think.
-
Hi Jan,
seems to be a little better ..
Thank you

@Jan I actually don't like the new new look. I know you can't please everyone though.
